Kino Julia

In the mid-1980’s, construction of a new shopping center began on the long-vacant Julininkulma plot at the corner of Eerikinkatu and Brahenkatu. Cinema facilities were also planned for the premises. According to the original plans, the cinema was supposed to have six or seven screens, with the largest screen having 250-300 seats.

The building was completed in 1987. Among the tenants were Hotel Julia and Finnkino’s five-screen cinema.

The cinema was closed in November 2009, when Finnkino’s lease was terminated. In 2011, the building was renovated, and the hotel was expanded to the premises originally used by the cinema.
