A 1986 photo of the Texas Theater in Hillsboro.
On the website they are still soliciting donations, but I didn’t find any news about what they are actually doing to renovate the theater.
The Texas was a Robb & Rowley theater in the 1930s. R&R also operated a house called the Ritz in Hillsboro during this period. The Ritz was destroyed by fire on December 22, 1944, but must have been rebuilt, as it was mentioned in the October 25, 1952, issue of Boxoffice.
The Texas Theatre started life as the Palace Theatre in 1926, and was renamed Texas Theatre in 1936. It was twinned sometime in the early-1980s and closed as a movie house in 2001.
