The Summit Theatre was a small neighborhood house located on Summit Street at W. 19th Street. The theatre opened in 1913 seating 622. By 1941, and through at least until 1950, it was operated by Commonwealth Amusement. The Summit Theatre closed June 29, 1955. It reopened on May 18, 1956 screening Spanish movies. Later closed, the ground floor became a restaurant, and the remainder of the building has been converted into apartments.

The Summit is now the Chez Elle Crepenie and Coffee House. Front facade looks nice; no idea how much or if any of the interior still exists.
The restaurant’s website is http://chezelle.homestead.com/ . From the pictures it looks like it’s all new inside (probably wasn’t much left when they bought the building) but it’s done up very nicely.

The restaurant occupies only the ground floor of the former theater building, and perhaps not all of that. According to a listing at Trulia, the remainder of the building has been converted into 8 residential apartments. The Summit Theatre was built in 1913, and was listed in the 1914-1915 edition of The American Moving Picture Directory.
The Summit Theater reopened beginning May 18, 1956 playing Spanish language films by Joseph R. Duran. After closing again, it would become an antique store. In 2006, the theatre was restored and reopened for special events before being converted to condos.
