A digital future for the Augusta
AUGUSTA, KS — The Augusta Historic Theatre is converting to digital but they’re placing some big bets to do it. The classic theatre is trying to keep up with the times but it has required major renovations.

Atlantic Highlands theater owner celebrates 50 years

Cinema Holdings to reopen Hamilton theater
HAMILTON, NJ — After closing at the beginning of the year, the former Destinta Theatre will reopen under the management of Cinema Holdings. With so many closures at the Independence Plaza where it’s located and nearby, the theatre should be a positive sign for commerce in the area.

Columbia teams up with foursquare for movie promotion

One of the more interesting promotional tie-ins I’ve seen lately. Columbia is forming an alliance with foursquare for the marketing of their upcoming film, “30 Minutes or Less”. For those not familiar with the mobile app foursquare, users “check-in” wherever they go to receive points and tell friends where they are. With this promotion, users that check-in at movie-related locations could win extra prizes.

Cinepolis travels North

DEL MAR, CA — Another luxury brand is coming to the States but this time it’s coming from out of the country. Mexico’s leading luxury chain, Cinepolis, will be rolling out locations in Southern California. With so much competition already sprouting up the past few years in this market, it will be interesting to see how they position themselves.
