Thanks for the aerial view, the front is different from my twin theatre I worked at for ABC/Plitt,but the white painted concrete blocks look the same,i bet in inside it was the exact copy of Columbia 1 and 2 or Columbia Square Cinemas as noted on CT.
Looking at the screens it looks too much like the Fun-Lan Drive-in Tampa i don’t want to see what is on the other screen.I think sometimes exhibitors just get greedy and want another screen. My visit to Fun-Lan in Tampa is posted there.I really wish we would drove on out to the drive-in in LAKELAND,Fla. One screen is just Great. Two is okay if the picture is BEHIND ME,not off to the side.
Dooneyman,a theif from an Atlanta Multiplex did happen.I remember reading it in the Atlanta paper.Don’t know which one. They did get caught i am pretty sure. Hold your bank deposits on some of these 20 plexes and you would have quite a bit of bread. We would deposit tens of thousands of Dollars in the years i worked for GCC at a triple over the weekends including the Midnight shows,Concession, game machines and feature films.Surprizes it hasn’t happen more often.Don’t know what the checks and balances are at these monster multiplexes to secure funds.Guess it is still up to being honest.
They ran a 512 seat theatre with that staff.let’s take the projectionist out of the picture,A cashier doubled as a concession girl how on earth did they serve a sell-out with that few of people.I can see it on a tuesday evening in Febuary, but i assume the weekends must have been a mad house.I guess the Box office girl sold and tore tickets that can quickly turn to thief if one chooses to do it.What a operation, Longest Day.
Bob, get the book “THE AMERICAN DRIVE-IN MOVIE THEATRE” by Don and Susan Sanders,It has pictures of this rather strange drive-in.Motorbooks International Publishers and Wholesalers. 729 Prospect Ave,PO BOX 1,Osceola,WI.54020-0001. It is a great book.167 pages color and black and white photos.
That stupid street lamp ruined a great looking marquee, something you don’t see anymore at these 20plexes , so many of you seem to love.Ken mc thanks for the picture of a great theatre and McQueen Flick.
“THE KARATE KID” for a Midnight show.A kid movie for grown-ups,which in my experience with Midnight movies, never in a million years would I book such a picture.Maybe folks up there don’t want edgeier movies at Midnight Movies.Strange booking.
Robin, Met a lady the other night,She heard my loud mouth, talking theatres. She said she worked with you at National Hills and Columbia Square. Her name was Anne and I’ll be damned.LOL.Have her Email.

In the 1971 photo it looks like Dennis Hopper under the marquee. Can’t believe no one else noticed.
