I never pictured you guys watching “A MAN and A Woman” or “THE FOX” in those days, but “THE GREEN BERETS”.but i was never in the miltary. Thanks for your service.
I had two close friends that grew up in New Orleans and all they talked about when we went to the movies in Downtown Augusta, how great the JOY was.I knew this theatre back in the early 70’s! But can it can it be that great.
BethanyH,Have had the same thing happen to me.You want to haul it home but just can’t do it.I have taken some stuff,in fact quite a bit over the years, but always had to leave something behind, that today is in the dump.
There is only one way to view a 70mm movie and that is one a single screen theatre about the time 2001 came out.by the 70’s in was mini-cinemas everywhere.
Dave, from Jerry’s own words about his Theatres.“I went into a business with a big company called Network Cinema Corporation to start a chain of Jerry Lewis Cinemas around the country,The theatres would show only G-Rated pictures,But with the increasing scarcity of that kind of product, the cinemas were running into financial trouble. In 1973, a group of frustrated theatre franchisees hit me with a $3 million lawsuit and won”. I have never really heard Jerry discuss his chain of theatres until i read his book, “DEAN & ME”. And that was all he wrote. Thought you or other Lewis fans might be interested.
Yes Stan, Daniel Village theatre a GTC had no doors leading into the theatre if you didn’t set middleways or up front you heard popcorn popping or the girls at the concession talking.Never realised they had other theatres like that,Very stupid design. It wasn’t until it was Twinnned that doors were put up.Great Story.
Wow, never seen “Z” heard about it.Must be a political film to stay that long in a political town. 14 weeks on “LITTLE BIG MAN” not bad. Thanks Stephen for the info.
I think we lost so much once we stated going past four screens. After that it was run them in and out.At the two single screens i worked at you had time to chat with the moviegoers. That is no more and why I stay away from those monsters.
I find it hard to believe anyone would get treated like this at GCC a company I worked for.It makes me believe we are not being told the whole story concerning the comment above on THEATRE HOUND’S post.
Closed on Christmas Day! Hard to believe.
