The restaurant is called “The Lemon Grass Thai Restaurant”.
Last one standing in Gillingham too!!
I bet people are dying to be there?
Is there someone called Doc Johnson?
It looks like there possibly still the entrance(and/or the exit roads?), and the outline of the drive-in site(and possibly some of the ramps, used as the carparks?). Whats the buildings there now on the site?
Did the floodwaters get in the theatre?
There is also a art gallery in the building(front right corner) and a shop(dress shop?)(front left corner).
I think the photo above has been reversed(all the words in the photo above are backwards)!!
Interesting name!!
Correction – the Gaiety Cinema is on Main Street(Northeast corner of Dodds Street.
The gym is now a boxing gym(Boxing works), a chemist(Crest Hotel Chemist), a convenience store(ezy Mart), and a empty shop(for sale).
Why the name Polo?
The theatre building is now a medical centre(and pharmacy?).
I think the theatre building has been repainted?
Odd name!! Why the name Woodzo?
I think the restaurant is called Prezzo?
Opened in (1950’s or 1964?). Closed on 17/4/1994. There is some photos of the drive-in at the website www.drive-insdownunder.com.au .
Newtown has also been called Chilwell.
I bet people are dying to get into this place!! Is Melton “Junior” Ryals funeral going to be held at the funeral home on the former drive-in site?
Is the A.V Bowl next door in the above photo still there?
Now known as the Semaphore Public Library.
I think the demolition of the Hoyts Queensgate Cinema and Queensgate Building may have just stated(1/9/2017)?
Was these place once used by the navy, hence the name Navy Pier?
Why was the thatre not just restored and turned into the performing arts centre(cheaper surely?)? Was it not possibly heritage listed?
Odd name!! Why the name Meadow Lark?
