Sandrea,Don’t know if your interested in Augusta,But there is a GCC 8 plex fully equipped last time i snuck in an exit door.It is owned by the Board of Education. But it is not in a good part of town.
Wow, I didn’t think that many.Well, you have plenty of work.I am a big 007 fan and i wish one day to visit Studios there. I dated a girl whose mom was a Brit,Yep,she married a yank. I had a chance to fly over to England with my girlfreinds mom back in the 80’s.All i needed was airfare, she had the room and board with family. I kick myself today for not going.Man I loved her yorkshire puddin'.
Bob, Robin and I worked at Plitt.Robinmitcham is listed above on a post,if you go to her page she put color photos of most all the theatres she has worked at,or pictures i gave her to put on since i don’t the equipment. You will just have punch up each theatre she has something on most all her theatres on CT, Robin, if you are on now,do you have pictures of MALL CORNERS.
I noticed a lot of Texas Theatres added other comments to the ratings for parents. In Dallas,it seemed like every theatre had their own rating system if you look at ads from that period. And what is it with ABC CINEMA,Interstate; In my neck of the woods it was ABC SOUTHEASTERN THEATRES,we were told never to call our theatres,“Cinemas”.
I really think a theatre should have the previous name and the current name listed. It makes me sick to see Columbia Square Cinemas listed when I spent close to four years there as Columbia 1 and 2 Theatres.ABC THEATRES did not want it to be called a “cinema”,But theatres are sold.I just think the old name is just as important if not more so.The time Columbia Sq.Cinemas came into being it was a lousy dollar house!
Well, I dealt with Kenny Rogers in Athens,He had a big horse farm there,It is onGEORGIA SQUARE CINEMAS GCC on CT,but you have read it. He never wanted in free,And really in Augusta I don’t remember JAMES BROWN ever asking to come in for free. If I spotted him in line i would quietly escort him in and he got such a big kick out of. I guess you got to do some small talk, but I am sure most locals left them alone.
I don’t know if he has 500 Theatres,But he sure likes LOEWS.Maybe we should list all the ABC/PLITT and GCC and Georgia theatres ! I don’t know how he could copy that 16mm without a few bucks,I really don’t know what he might be talking about.that is what he showed at one of our reunions.I found an old Atlanta newspaper,MOVIE ADS and listed some on some of your Theatres,Did you remember the OMNI 6.I knew it has the CNN 6 Cinemas.OMNI 6 is on CT.I left a post there, but I was sure you never woked there,SEEMS like you would have run into Stan Malone In Atlanta he too worked several different theatres.
Ken Roe,you have introduced some great British Theatres.Do you know how many are left before you have evryone on CT.And I guess it is safe to say there were no Drive-ins there. Thanks,
In 1970 and a company builds a Twin Theatre, must have been one of the last BIg twin theatres built.Don’t get me wrong,I wish that would have been as large as theatres got.A 20 plex? Don’t like “walmart moviegoing”.
Thanks Robin,Bob if anyone has pictures it will be robin.
Thanks Raymond Lo.
Jake, glad you were able to save something.I did the same thing when two theatres i worked were closed.
oh, BOB don’t know if you know this, but you asked a question about the CAROLINA THEATRE in North Augusta,S.C. You have an answer there now.

I am looking in my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac to see if i can find anything for you guys.Lots of pages with Theatre Circuits.
I stll can’t believe those other two Assistants Diane and Cathy refuse to get on CT.They seem to have the personality to do it.

I found an old City map in a Augusta History book that had all the theatres listed on the street, but no picture.
NOt listed in my 1956 motion picture Almanac, either had closed or was not built yet.
Ryan, It parked 500 cars in 1956 and was owned by Wesher MEyers.
