Wow, Alalvarez. I was just stating from looking at old Jerry Lewis Cinemas on CT.My home town of Augusta,Ga. was set to build one and Georgia Theatres Quickly built Southgate Cinema and they pulled out,so I never saw one,but from reading other CT folks writings on Lewis' Cinemas you can clearly see a pattern of X-rated houses.Hopefully,Joel Weide will read your post,Thanks.
Robin, I can’t even afford to cut my A.C. on,but i have very well insulated House 2 by 6 walls, plus a full size basement that stays about 80 degrees year round.I would rather pocket the money than give it to Georgia Power. Nick is adding me and the gang as the Marx Brothers and he is putting ads on his Dale-Marby Drive-in site.Hope you guys get A.C. soon.
Can’t remember crying at a film unless it was laughing so hard watching “THE GROOVE TUBE” in my youth. In fact,I don’t think i was quite 17 when I saw it.
Nick, thanks for sending me a copy of the GCC Feature Presenation Trailer. It brings back good memories. When I see Russell or Barry I will let them know.
Thanks guys I will try not to interfer with you guys too much, because i know you guys are into the new stuff and that’s great.I remember the old projectionist cussin' when Sensurround was running. Now that i think about,I am sounding more like old Bill, that is scary.
you said something on one theatre that you didn’t think Drive-ins Should be on CT. what was your reason? Can’t remember the Drive-in you left that statement on,hope you read this.Just wondering.
I bet if you really explored you would have found them.To cut off the heating/air system at the Imperial one had to go under the stage and it looked just like a Boris Karloff movie down there.
Golly, You sound more and more like me.On my night off my date,Bev and me would catch a movie.Wouldn’t go anywhere else.Always a movie and always at a ABC/plitt theatre in Augusta where i always got in free and did not wait in a line.God bless that girl.
You make a great point and one i never thought about, when i hit 40 i got reading glasses and never thought about it.What guess i was saying i was in the business when Senssround came out of Universal with “EarthQuake” and when the earthquake hit those big bass speakers shook the old Imperial theatre and I Guess it helped. when “MIDWAY” came out it to played in Sensround, but the movie was good enough not really needed to crank it up when the airplanes were starting up,but they did.Time “Rollercoster” came out it played at another theatre in town without the Sesuround and I thought the movie was good by itself without the silly sound effects.“Battlestar Gallatica” was also released in Senssround, but here I don’t think had the real set up like the Imperial Did.You know we helped Universal drag those large speakers in in the balcony and in front of the screen in 1974 or 1976 for $15.00 bucks an hour and you know those bums never paid us.
I saw some 3-D movies while at Universal Studios and quite frankly it was a good experience, but I wouldn’t want to sit wearing glasses through a two hour movie Can’t we just enjoy a simple movie without all the glitter,Is it Glitter because lack of story telling?

I got the tour of the Tampa theatre and the Ghost story.Don’t believe in such non-sense.

Nick has a super cool picture on National Hills Theatre.
Did Robin get those Drive-ins on CT I don’t think I saw them.Nick sent me a GCC Feature Presentation trailer on Dvd.It was like Christmas morning.
For some reason it seems once Lewis got out of the theatre business a lot of this theatres,to me, seem to go strickly X- rated.
Very interesting history you guys have put together on this theatre,Thanks for the pictures.
Boy, i never would have thought that was a movie theatre. Thanks for picture Trolleyguy.
Well I got jumped on about “ Star Wars” so I know what NOT to talk about.Even though 2001 was a thousand times better.Better Shut-up.
