There was a viaduct underneath LBJ freeway that I would crouch down and walk thru to get to the Loews Park central. I was a “latch-key” kid so movies were a great escape for me. I remember seeing Police Academy 2, Crocodile Dundee, Witness, Lethal Weapon 2, Spaceballs, and the classic Tom Berenger musical, Rustler’s Rhapsody, all at this theater.

There is a church being developed on the site.

It was sited rather oddly that as you drove up to it you seemed to be approaching it from the rear and really wasnt well marked.

This was a great theater, in a hard to find location. It seemed to be surrounded by grass and freeways. I remember seeing many movies here incl. Brubaker, Altered States, Stardust Memories and others. I rememeber, maybe as last as 1980, it still had a smoking section.

This theater was great. Saw “Saturday Night Fever” several times on its first release. It was a great “date place” for north Dallas teens. Sad to see it go. Right up there with NorthPark in terms of presentation.
