It condenses a night out at the movies. Combining the two allows people to go see the 7:00 show and be out by 9. Many people don’t want to stay out until 11 just to see a movie. So if it puts more butts in the seats then I’m all for it.
Also — if you don’t want to eat during a movie (or have others around you eating) don’t go to a dining theatre.
Can anybody shed some light — somehow at Cinematour we found an address for the AMC Willowbrook 6 at 1156 FM-1960 which puts it nearly back at I-45.
Obviously the Willowbrook 6 wouldn’t be that far back and it makes sense for it to be at the Willowbrook mall but our research shows that the Willowbrook Mall had a General Cinema (at some point). Was the GCC and the AMC the same theatre? Does anybody know why we may have had information that 1156 FM-1960 is the address?
Sundance here in San Francisco isn’t THAT pricey. It can get there depending on when you go but they seem to have a lot more flexible pricing as far as charging less M-Th etc. etc.
The theatre is built on the site of the Moffet Drive-In which explains its isolation. I went there a few years ago on the weekend and it was still fairly crowded.
Who ran this before Flagship?
Oooooh offers air conditioning. How modern!
I doubt they’re paying rent. Landlord probably found them to keep the space from remaining vacant.
So is Galaxy operating both plexes or just the four? And somebody else is operating the other?
There are many many many photos at Cinematour.

What gives you that idea?
Except the 20-plex is a Century Theatre. Not exactly ironic.
How ornate do you expect a place to be?
The Julia 4 in Columbia, SC is another I believe.
As far as Consolidated Theatres goes — was this chain absorbed by another? Was it an earlier name for another? What’s their deal?
We get it already. You don’t like multiplexes.
The treatment on the front of the theatre looks like Super Saver / Silver ran the theatre at some point. Was this a Regal the entire time?
Does any part of the theatre still stand at the site of the Mercedes dealership?

Theatre should be marked demolished.
This was the last theatre opened by Century Theatres before being sold to Cinemark only weeks later.
The theatre opened on November 17, 2000
Nope — Just has its one 35/70mm Century Projector and Christie AW3.
Sure the theatre was never a Carmike? Looks suspiciously like one.

Alameda is an Island in the San Francisco Bay.

In looking at the 1980 aerial view it appears you may be correct. Have never seen ads for it in any old newspapers though. Quite curious.
Yeah — seems odd that the entrance was not included.
Nice that they replaced the seats in recent years. I expected to see some really old low back Irwins.
