The only original area of the theatre still remaining is the balcony but that was used as a separate theatre years ago. However it still retains the original chairs.
I was in the area today and took some photos of the Paramount and one of the Adams'….I doubt these movie palaces will be resurrected. But I hope I’m wrong.
I remember how small the ‘lobby’ was and the concession stand was directly behind the auditorium. This was definitely no palace but I saw ABBY, RUBY, SINBAD movies at this place.
There is a building at 69 Graham Avenue,formerly Schecter’s Furniture store and it looks like it was a movie theatre. I will try and take a picture and post it.
What a shame there aren’t more vintage pictures of the interior of old movie theatre. My wish list: The Commodore,Williamsburgh,The Marcy, The Rainbow.
This place was always packed on weekends. But when David Lettermen moved to the newly-refurbished Sullivan Theatre the days were counting down for the New David.
My friends and I recently discovered this movie theatre. While it’s nothing to write about, décor-wise, it still has a sort of small town movie theatre feel to it.
I would love to see the interior of these: Williamsburgh Theatre, Commodore, Marcy, and Ridgewood. Any idea if al the interiors of a new theatre were photographed?
I am interested in the magazine that is all about the movie theater industry…I am interested in some Brooklyn, NY theaters like the Williamsburg and Commodore.
This building and some others have been demolished. I am sure they’re going to put up apartments. I will try and get there and take some pictures. The old Williamsburgh Playhouse, now a 99 cent store, is all that remains of the many theaters that once stood along Broadway.

What a shame..I doubt this place will be restored. There is a sign advertising there is 20,000 square feet of retail space.

I am wondering how long before they tear this down for new construction. The bodega that was next door for almost 50 years recently closed.
Was it closed due to poor attendance?

Most people don’t want to go to the Bronx and there’s limited parking.

There is indeed a gym, Blink Fitness, occupying the theater.
