Poitier had two first-run films in 1958, both opening the same month, November. He shared co-billing with Tony Curtis in “The Defiant Ones” at Loew’s Ohio. Both actors were nominated for Best Actor in the Oscars race. Poitier was top billed, for the first time, in “Mark of the Hawk” at RKO Palace. He also returned for second runs in theaters, like the Cameo, in “Edge of the City.”
