GIANT PANORAMIC SCREEN AT WINTERGARDEN THEATRE Friday 3 December 1954

The two figures in this picture are dwarfed by the new panoramic screen installed at the Wintergarden Theatre, and will be used for the first time for the main feature tonight, “A Million Pound Note.”

The new screen, I which measures 28 ft x 151 ft, compared with the old screen of 18 ft x 13. ft, is the first step in Rockhampton towards the showing of Cinerama, CinemaScope and similar types of movies. Besides the new screen, other new equipment includes wide-angle lenses to cover the wide screen and brighter sources of light in the projectors.
