Embassy Cinema Maldon
The Embassy at Maldon was to be Architect David Nye’s first cinema for the Shipman & King cinema circuit. However, problems arose during construction and S&K sent in the more experienced Leslie Kemp Architect F.R.I.B.A., as consultant Architect, who was at that time working on the construction of another of their cinemas the nearby Embassy Braintree, again with Mollo & Egan designing the interior. There was a delay of four months before the Maldon Embassy was ready to open, which occurred on 19th March 1936 and therefore Nye’s second cinema design for the Sevenoaks Cinema Co. Ltd., “The Cinema” Sevenoaks, opened first on 4th November 1935 here again Nye worked with Mollo & Egan. Please view on Cinema Treasures as Granada cinema.
