Great Projection 35mm Equipment In The Paramount Projection Room
I saw my first CinemaScope movie here as a little kid ‘The Robe’ in 1953. The huge scope screen had a small curve and the 4 channel mag stereo sound was over the top. The curtains looked great and they had all the proper masking. The main red curtain had a black strip down the middle and they brought it in on the sides for scope or flat. At this past Fridays film showing the projectionist did the curtain cues perfect and flashed the film on the curtains first then opened them. Now many years later they are showing 35mm films again but no stereo sound this time around. This is why people stay home and stream films as theatres like the Paramount don’t offer stereo sound people can get at home on TV’s or home theatre installs.
