Michael Magnusson writes - Going by the posters for the Gardenvale Theatre, the picture dates from late 1927.

David Kilderry writes - Hoyts only ran the Gardenvale theatre from 1925 until around 1935.

It opened and closed a few times in the 30s. Finally renamed the Mayfair from 1946 and was demolished for road widening in 1960.
