Rossellini’s “Desiderio,” begun in 1943 and released after the war is 1946, is one of his rarest titles. It was shown at the Cable Car Cinema on May 3, 1992 and at the Roger Williams Park Museum on October 4, 1982 by the Italian Film Society of RI.

The film was widely circulated under the title “Woman” or “Rossellini’s ‘Woman’” and played a lot of theatres across the country, including drive-ins, together with “Shamed” (Preludio d'amore) a non-Rossellini companion piece with Vittorio Gassman. That double bill played Providence’s Uptown in 1961.
