Avon Cinema
Albert Lamorisse’s widely beloved wordless 1956 34-minute featurette “The Red Balloon” accompanied the feature “Lost Continent” here at the Avon in November 1957. It played lots of other places throughout the country, indeed the world, as an accompanying treat, most aptly with Lamorisse’s slightly longer 1953 “White Mane”, about a boy and a wild horse. It was also shown alone non-theatrically on youth programs by libraries, museums, churches and the like.
