Hoyts Ivanhoe Theatre 226 Upper Heidelberg Road, Ivanhoe, VIC
The original curtains from 1924 were maroon with gold trimming. From memory some where on it was an Ivanhoe theatre monogram.
Hoyts Ivanhoe was designed by the architectural firm Kaberry & Chard with a seating capacity of 1,700 and built at a cost of £25,000. The theatre was constructed in a stadium design with a raised section at the rear. The opening night was officiated by the president of the Heidelberg shire Cr W. J. Windsor.
In 1931 it was extensively remodeled by the architectural firm of Taylor, Soilleux & Overend, which is pretty much the way it is presented in this photo.
