His Majesty’s Theatre 171 Queen Street, Auckland - Demolition 1988

There were protests about His Majesty’s Theatre planned demolition, but contractors moved in overnight on 23rd-24th December 1987 hours before a preservation order could be actioned. The roof was removed on 3rd January 1988 and the stage went on 13th January 1988. And that was the end. A modern retail building now stands on the site.
