With the sudden departure of Ernest C. Rolls and his vaudeville troop, Union Theatres found themselves with an empty theater when the show closed 29 July 1931. This advertisement placed in the trade publication Everyones on 12 August failed to attract any prospective tenants and UT had a lease obligation to Fullers until Xmas. (Side Note: Despite all the building developments in central Sydney, ‘Film House’ at 251a Pitt Street, once a hub of motion picture business activities, still stands more than a century later.)
