An old photo from the 1910s of the Colonial Theatre that was on Germantown Avenue near Maplewood Avenue. It was built in 1913 so this photo was taken not all that long after it opened. It was referred to as Nixon’s Colonial Theatre to distinguish it from another Colonial Theatre in Philadelphia. It was the largest of Germantown’s theatres. It closed and was demolished in 1961. Nothing was ever built on the site and is still a parking lot today.
