Civic Theatre 375 Hunter Street, Newcastle, NSW

This is a photo of the Civic Theatre on the opening night of Twentieth Century Fox’s epic film “The Robe”, which commenced it’s season on Wednesday November 17 1954. This was presented in four track Stereophonic sound and the new modern wonder called CinemaScope.

The Robe was the first Cinemascope film to be released and screened at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre.
