Cameo Theatre

Lots of theatrical activity in the Olds Building at 1320 Pacific in what was once considered “New Tacoma” or “NewTac.”

It started with F.T. Olds, himself, in the investment industry (at right).

The Lyric (at left) was the first theatre operating there in 1909.

The Jewel Theatre came in next (grand opening ad at bottom and another great ad in center).

The Shell was next in and a couple of sound era ads in the 2-spot and lower right.

And finally it was the Cameo. It’s opening ad at upper right on March 2, 1962 with Joni Day in “Not Tonight Henry” and Diana Does in “Blonde Sinner.” And its final ad (larger in real life) at far right in December 5, 1981.
