The Melody Theatre corner Kent St & Railway Terrace Rockingham 1964.
Arno Albrecht writes - You will notice there are actually three picture theatres in these photos. Firstly there is Melody Theatre building and you will notice that it had an out door picture theatre minus it’s backyard as the screen is on the back fence.
Then next door to the building is an out door picture theatre with rows of canvas lay back seating with a screen on the back fence. Then on the diagonally opposite corner is another out door picture theatre. Not in the pictures but on the corner of Railway Tce and Rockingham Rd was a building with an indoor theatre. This building later became the National bank. Then on the side opposite of Kent St to the Outdoor Theatre was the Sunray Caravan park which was owned by Stan Grey. Stan was a family friend and had a outdoor theatre screen in the gardens of the park which was mainly for park clients but could be seen from the street by people walking past. I was fortunate enough to go to them all.
