Architect John Owen Bond was selected by new Proprietor Lou Morris to completely enlarge the Carlton cinema compete with a new auditorium of nearly 2000 seats, together with new Cafe/Restaurant and Compton organ. Lou Morris like Shipman & King and other independent cinema owners engaged Architects and Companies who they had previously employed and trusted to give value also lowering the costs involved on their investment. The new enlargement works were carried out by Building Contractor Thomas Gill & Son Ltd., of Norwich.
