The Baldwin Theatre launched in December of 1906 (ad at right) and then it devolved from top drawer legit stage plays to burlesque… save for one night when Sarah Bernhardt would bid farewell to NOLA in 1917 at the renamed Dauphine Theatre. It was her last appearance until her Orpheum Theatre visit in 1918.
