Isn’t it weird that Avengers is coming out a week earlier than the first week of May? Disney made that move due to huge demand and a worldwide day and date release. Not only that, but they warn moviegoers not to post any spoilers online. Judging by the showtimes, this movie is going to be a huge hit, especially with Imax (where it was shot on) and dolby. Hopefully it has legs like Black Panther, as Black Panther is the longest running movie at this theater this year.
My correction, this movie is being played at this theater in regular and 3d. As for you Alpinedownhiller, both 13 and 12 have digital projection 4k and 3d along with upgraded lossless surround sound. Sony Dynamic Digital Sound is no longer in this theater. Sometime in the mid 90s it was upgraded to that format as Sony owned the theaters for a time. When AMC took over in 2006, they changed it over from SDDS to Dolby Digital as it was the norm for newer theatres. The seats haven’t changed since the 1997 renovation when the old seats from 1982 were replaced with the rocking seats that were standard with the Star chain that Loews acquired in the early 90s. One of the longest runs in this theater’s history was Rambo First Blood Part II, which opened on two of the then six screens. It was during that year that Coke would go on to buy Loews after it was spun off from said corporation through its Tri-Star division, which at the time involved HBO (for pay tv rights) and CBS (for video rights). Both HBO and CBS would move out of the venture, leaving Coke with half ownership of the public company before selling it to Sony for $3.4 billion in late 1989.
I think it’s because of day and date with the rest of the world. The last movie to open around late April or mid april has been the Fast and the Furious movies that all started with Fast Five and went towards Furious 7 and the Fate of the Furious. Even late March has been like that too with the release of Batman V Superman which was terrible and most recently Ready Player One which is almost gone from theatres. I’m surprised that Black Panther is still playing in theatres more than two months after it came out, and is among the longest running engagements for a Marvel and a Disney movie ever. The Jumanji reboot was still in theatres when it came to digital media two weeks before the disc release and still made money. Remember when it took years for Star Wars to come out on home media after it’s first release in 1977? Same thing for ET and Jaws.
Luxury? This theater had no recliners back then but had comfy seats that were replaced with rocking seats during the 1997 renovation that expanded the 8 screens to 14. It’s time for AMC to renovate the theater in order to compete against cinemark’s 12 screen complex across the street from this theater.
AMC should renovate this theater with reclining seats in the near future so it’s up to date with other DC area AMCs that have gone through the process. They should also use reserved seating just like it did when 2001 came out in that format.
The theatrical cut was too short. I saw the movie and they left out a few scenes that got cut when joss whedon filled in to finish the movie following Mr. Snyder’s daughter committing suicide. The current version that’s on digital and disc has outgrossed the theatrical run. Last jedi on another hand is already sold out on Amazon .

This coming December 10 the theater turns 25 years old. Screens 8 and 4 have reduced seating count.
This is one of the better theaters to be managed by Cinepolis.

15 years ago this year the Best Buy opened where the outers used to be and has done good business even with Amazon ruling the roost.
