I talked to David Bramante, who owns this theatre. He said that it is being converted into a ‘special events house’ which will still have film screenings and festivals from time to time, but will no longer be a regularly scheduled movie theatre. He’d love to get the second screen back, but there are no current plans to do so. He said that the building was recently sold.

Patsy (re your comment of 3/3/06), the RKO Palace in Columbus, Ohio, is alive and well (though no longer showing movies)

http://stuartstreetplayhouse.com/ has a show listed for June 17-23: “JIG is the remarkable story of the fortieth Irish Dancing World Championships, held in March 2010 in Glasgow. Three thousand dancers, their families and teachers from around the globe descend upon Glasgow for one drama filled week.”

Can we hope that the construction might turn this back into a twin?

Then there’s the Challenge of Boston, where the same street name is used for multiple different streets in different neighborhoods. Bowdoin Street, Cambridge Street, and especially Washington Street. I hope to soon be able to help CinemaTreasures fix the many theatres that got assigned to the wrong street with the right name.

Patrick: my submission got posted as soon as I submitted it. It is at http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/35976 (and already has a comment from someone other than me). However, it is not in the Newest Theatres list.

If you could support HTML in comments, that would be even better. Most people know how to use HTML.

Another vote to bring back ‘View All’, please.

Once I’ve added a theatre, is there some additional step I need to take to put it into the ‘Newest Theatres’ list?

do I need to try to fill out that second page form again in order to get the theatre listed under ‘New Theatres’ and Columbus and Ohio?

Thanks. I’ll look at Markdown, but why can’t web sites just use regular HTML for linking, instead of inventing new formats like BBcode and Markdown?

I added a comment to http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/35976 with URLs of some oral histories that mention the Champion Theatre. The URLs did not turn into live links, and the comment is unreadable because the right margin of the column cuts it off.

The Columbus Jewish Historical Society has a number of oral history interviews of people who went to the Champion Theatre back when this was a Jewish neighborhood:

Also, even though it successfully created a new theatre page at http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/35976/ , the page is not listed at http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/newest , nor at http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/united-states/ohio/columbus , nor at http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/united-states/ohio/columbus/near-southside .

I got past the first page, but now I’m on the second. I filled in ‘Retail’ under ‘Functions’, and pressed ‘Add’, and that cleared the form field I had just filled in. Now I press the ‘Finish Theater and Save’ button, and it does nothing at all. No new page, no waiting for a new page, just nothing.

Here’s the URL for the page I’m now on: http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/35976/finish?name=Retail&commit=Add

I assume by ‘tomorrow’ you mean Thursday, so I’ll wait until then.

Can you make the blog show how many comments each post has?

I am trying to add a new theatre (Champion Theatre in Columbus, Ohio). When I hit the “Save Basic Theatre Information” button, I get a page that says “We’re sorry, but something went wrong”.

This error message is not at all informative! Could you please change it to explain what I have done wrong when filling out the form, please?

The map location shown here is not correct. The theatre is actually north of Binney Street, and its main entrance is on Binney.

Bway, I’m using Google Chrome. All of the other comments here look fine, except for Bway on May 31, 2011 at 12:09 pm, which is cut off by the column’s right margin.

Patrick – yes please make the links a different color and/or underlined!

I can’t read Bway’s comment above this one because it overflows the right column. Can you fix this?

Thanks. And finally, how do I fix incorrect maps? I’ve tried to pick up the red pushpin and move it, but that doesn’t work. A number of Boston theatres are on the wrong streets, because the city has multiple streets with the same name in different neighborhoods.

Patrick, this is an example of a theatre that doesn’t have a StreetView

http://cinematreasures.org/theaters/10498

but it should:

How do I add it?
