The Jewel appears to have been built sometime between 1930 and 1945. The theatre was closed, gutted and converted into office space sometime between 1950 and 1965. Fortunately most of the exterior remains intact.

When I was a kid that was the only theater in town. It was run by two old ladies and still had the original wooden seats. It was only open on Friday and Saturday nights and played the same movie both nights. I believe that it was still showing movies into the 70’s.
