The Echo is second billed to the People’s Theater in an August, 1919 newspaper ad. The address, 1094 Hawthorne Avenue is for the Frances Building that stood at the corner of 37th and Hawthorne. The theater was built with the Frances, and an entrance was provided through the building to give the theater a more prestigious street address on Hawthorne. NOTE: The number for the address pre-dates Portland’s “Great Renumbering” of 1931-32.
