Park Theatre

Originally opened in the early-1900’s as the Barnegat Opera House for vaudeville and minstrel shows. Began showing movies between 1915 and 1920. Later the Opera House was converted to a full time movie theatre known as the Park Theatre. The Park Theatre is still listed as operating in the 1951 Film Daily Yearbook. Its address is given as Shore Road, which is present day Route 9.

The building was eventually demolished.

Any additional information on this theatre would be greatly appreciated.

Harry Colmer converted this building into a full time movie theatre in the late 1920s. This was the third of three theatres in his chain (along with the Colonial in Beach Haven and the Colony in Brant Beach). Colmer died in 1956 and his family operated all three theatres until 1964 when they sold to Frank Theatres.

I don’t remember this one. I wonder how long the Franks operated it.
