The Hermitage Cinema was opened around 1939/1940 and was built and operated by London and Provincial Cinemas. It had a dance hall and cafe attached. By 1954 it had passed into the hands of an independent exhibitor. It was closed around 1964 and I believe it was purchased by the local council.
