This was a drive-in theater that was in the far corner of town, just up the road and to the left of the high school, I think. I was just kid when I was taken there so I don’t remember much, other than it was there. I remember that the screen sat against the woods. The Charleston Drive-In was opened on May 10, 1951 with David Bruce in “Young Daniel Boone” & Armand Denis in “Savage Splendour”.
By 1955, it had been renamed Family Drive-In.

THE CHARLESTON DRIVE IN in 1956 parked 275 cars and was owned by E.L. ORNSTEIN , a man that owned several Drive ins in your State.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 1490 Market Street.
Opened as the Family Drive-In by Fred Belcher in May of 1951. It advertised only as the Family Drive-In during its run.

Worked there in 1965-1966, ran the projectors, for Tex & Peggy Richardson…Great fun, I was in high School then..

The screen and projector building stood until the late 90’s, Google Earth shows them still there in 1998 but gone by 2003.
