Havelock Drive-In

The Havelock Drive-In was located on US Highway 70 West at Church Road (the latter road splits away from US 70 southeast of the drive-in site; northwest of the drive-in site the road is simply called US 70 Service Road). The screen faced away from the highway, with the back of the screen painted turquoise. The marquee was mounted on the back of the screen; the theater name was above the marquee in red letters.

The Havelock Drive-In closed around 1984; it was demolished by 1988. The site is now occupied by the Holiday Inn Express, the Hampton Inn and the Havelock Tourist and Event Center among other businesses.

I work for the USPS, Darn them, now I want to quit, boycott the USPS. I just might go postal.

 The Havelock Drive In was within about 2 miles from the gates of the 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, NC.  I remember attending this drive in a few times, sometimes with a date sometimes not.
