The Lyric Theatre was listed by 1911. It was located at 423 Georgia Street where J.J. Newberry Co. department store was, next to the Redmen’s Hall. The Lyric Theatre closed sometime in 1916.

Today a rebuilt complex with various small businesses and the Georgia Street Galleria stand on the site.

I’m guessing that the Lyric Theatre was still around during the early to mi-1920s. Based on a documented history of Kristin Delaplane the daughter of Fred Fisch a businessman pioneer of Vallejo in the 1900s. She writes: “Crowley’s Department Store was a fun store to go through, across from Crowley’s was a store and underneath it was a THEATRE. We also had the Hanlon Theater on Virginia Street and the Vallejo Theater.

Both the Hanlon and the Vallejo (aka Empress) Theatres were in the timeframe of 1920. Accross from the Crawley’s Department Store were other Department stores, I believe it a Men’s apparel and downstairs had to be the Lyric Theatre, that she is referring too. Later it became an arcade place they called the “Rat Hole”.
