Royalty Cinema

Located in the east of Hull on Southcoats Lane, near the corner of Bedale Avenue. The Royalty Cinema was opened on 17th August 1935. It was built by a local company in association with the County Cinemas chain. Designed by architect Robert Crombie, it was a copy of his Rex Cinema on Endyke Lane, Hull, which had opened on 3rd August 1935. It had a 40 feet wide proscenium.

The Royalty Cinema was taken over by the Associated British Cinemas(ABC) chain on 8th November 1937. ABC closed the Royalty Cinema on 2nd April 1966.

Since then the façade has been demolished, but the auditorium remain, and has for many years operated as a United Carpets furniture store.
