The Sundown Drive-In opened on October 7, 1948 with Robert Young in “Lucky Lady”. It was located in the scenic landscape along the Holston River and the main highway.

The Sundown Drive-In was listed in the Kingsport, Tennessee Times until December of 1961 and apparently closed except for flea markets.

Rushed open in the fall of 1948 at less than half its eventual capacity, the next year it was full-size, with new ramping and man-made moonlight. It didn’t get in-car speakers until 1952, though. Original operator was Reginald Fuller.
