The Kings Hall in Otley in June 2005

Located on Station Road, near Burras Lane. The grand opening was on Monday 8th May 1911; the owner/lessee was a Mr J.N.O. Lawson. Admission prices 3d, 6d and one shilling. A 3pm children’s Saturday matinee cost 1d and 2d and there were two shows on Saturday evening at 6:30 and 8:30. A 13 horse power gas engine provided power for the 60' x 50' x 18' auditorium and delightful piano music was performed by Miss Norfolk. A Pathe projector was installed and there were numerous exits, all fitted with panic bolts. The proprietor by 1919 was a Mrs. Lumby and the manager A.L Horton. It closed in April 1927 but was still listed in the 1931 Kinematograph Year Book.

It became a dance hall a few months and then billiards. Two years later it opened as a skating rink and later was given to industrial use. In June 2005 it was a bed showroom - an interior visit revealed decoration on the walls - see photos. It was demolished a few years later and housing built on the site.
