Roxy Cinema

Located in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire. The Roxy Cinema was opened in April 1939 with Jeanette MacDonald & Nelson Eddy in “Girl of the Golden West”. Seating was provided on a stadium plan, with a raised stepped section at the rear, rather than the usual overhanging balcony. It was equipped with a British Acoustic(BA) sound system. The proscenium was 30 feet wide. The cinema also had a cafĂ© for the convenience of its patrons.

The Roxy Cinema was closed around 1982. It was demolished and shops known as The Maltings were built on the site.
