Located in Rishton, to the northeast of Blackburn, Lancashire. The Empire Picture Palace was opened prior to 1934 on the corner of High Street and Walmsley Street. It was equipped with a Gramo-Radio sound system. By 1944 it had been re-named Regal Cinema and had been equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system.

The Regal Cinema was still open in 1958 when it was operated by the Hutchinson Cinemas chain, but it had closed by 1963. It was converted into a supermarket and has been operated by Whitehead’s as a food and off-licence store. By 2015 it was operating as Rishton Mini-Market store.
