Bijou Cinema

In Ryde, on the Isle of Wight, a former chapel and Temperance Hall was converted into the Bijou Cinema, opening on 14th November 1910. It closed around 1928, unable to compete with the nearby Scala Cinema. In May 1999 it was in retail use and remains in that use in 2019. (The Scala Cinema (later Plaza) has been demolished).

The Bijou opened on 14 November 1910. The Scala opened much earlier on 22 December 1921.
