WMR Film Centre

Located in Irvine, North Ayrshire. Green’s Picturedrome was opened by George Green in 1912. It had a 25ft wide proscenium. Around 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. By 1953 it had been re-named Green’s Cinema which continued until at least 1966.

Soon afterwards it was re-named Rex Cinema. By 1980 it was operating as the George Cinema. In 1983 it was taken over by William Mather and it was re-named WMR Film Centre. It was closed in 2001.

The building was unused until it re-opened as Pichers Nightclub on 24th September 2003.
