Arcadia Cinema

In the Midlothian town of Musselburgh, a short way along the coast from Edinburgh. The Pavilion Picture House opened late-1910 or early-1911.

By 1927 the owner was James Baxter and by 1935 it was operated by H.F. Baxter & Son.

By the 1940 edition the ownership had transfered to John Macmillan. This entry listed 600 seats.

By 1946, the cinema was owned by Musselburgh Cinema Company Ltd. by then with 550 seats. Around 1956 it was taken over by new operators and re-named Arcadia Cinema. It was closed in October 1962 and was converted into a casino.

By the time I visited, in March 2006, the auditorium was occupied by Discount Carpets, which continues to date (December 2015).
