Electric Theatre

In Devon, in the Torbay town of Brixham, it is believed the Electric Palace opened around 1912 by Arthur O. Ellis.

The 1940 edition listed 500 seats. By the 1953 edition this had reduced slightly to 488.

The Electric Theatre closed on 20th September 1966 with a screening of “The Rare Breed” starring James Stewart and Maureen O'Hara. By then, Mrs W. A. Hexter had been the manager for some thirty years.

The building was subsequently converted into a Somerfield supermarket.
