South Australia’s first country drive-in opened as the Shandon Drive-In in September 1957, in Port Pirie (today renamed Risdon Park). In 1965 it was re-named Flinders Drive-In. It was closed on 26th March 1984 with Jacqueline Bisset in “Class” & Michael McKean in “Young Doctors in Love”. It was sold in August 1984 and housing has been built on the site.

This drive-in had its own newspaper called the Shandon News.
