This short live vaudeville and moving picture house opened on February 8, 1911, as the King Edward Theatre. It had been built as part of an annex to the earlier King Edward Hotel at the corner of 20th Street W. and Avenue A South (now Idylwyld Avenue.)

Three months later the house closed briefly and reopened as the Orpheum Theatre, but it was not to last much longer. By March, 1912, the theatre had been closed as part of a renovation project for the hotel, and never reopened.
