The March 1, 1910 issue of Motography reports that the Bessemer Theater, located in the South Chicago neighborhood on S. Commercial Avenue near E. 92nd Street, not far from Bessemer Park for which it was named, was opened by Peter Pernod and Thomas Leahy. By 1913, the theater was managed by William F. Chelius who also managed the nearby Bowen Theater at the time. The theater disappears from the theater showtimes of The Chicago Tribune after March 1914, but still appears in the 1915 edition of the American Motion Picture Directory. Unsure if the three-story building on the site today, which appears vacant, is the same building which housed the theater.
