In Chipping Sodbury, south Gloucestershire, the second cinema in this small town (after the Picture House, see separate Cinema Treasures entry) was the Picturedrome, which opened in 1930. A very basic wood and canvas structure, it stood on Chapel Lane (now Hounds Road). It was owned by J. L. Mott, but managed by his wife, who apparently kept order by not allowing children to cheer or stamp their feet!

Mr Morley Bright played incidental music on the piano. There was an Imperial sound system, one show nightly and two changes of programme each week.

It was always a very basic building, and it was blown down in a gale around 1937 (the 1938 Kinematograph Year Book lists it as “Closed”).

A replacement, the Cosy Cinema, arose on the site (see separate Cinema Treasures entry).
